Featured
  • Booking Required - £0.00
Drum Devon present beginners djembe drumming for the promotion of personal and social recovery and wellbeing. Forget your worries, find your rhythm and express yourself playing African rhythms.

Our students are people with lived experience of mental health issues, their family and friends, and the professionals who support them.

There is a wide range of benefits associated with African drumming including:

  • The promotion of personal & social wellbeing.
  • Promotion of relaxation & calm, lowering blood pressure and an enhanced sense of wellbeing.
  • Aids the reduction of tension & stress by providing a focused form of relaxation much like meditation.
  • Emotional release through non-verbal expression.
  • Helps to control chronic pain by promoting the production of endorphins.
  • Promotion of social wellbeing through the connection with the wider community.

Sessions are being held on Fridays from 21 January for six weeks. There are two sessions to choose from:

  • a beginners/introduction class for those who have never played before: 11am to 1pm
  • a follow on/more experienced group: 1.30pm to 3.30pm

The classes are organised by Devon Recovery Learning Community and funded by Devon Partnership NHS Trust.
