Tuesday's from 9 July - 24 September 9.30am to 10.30am | 12-week course.
Enjoy a gentle and relaxing introduction to this ancient Chinese exercise that benefits the mind, body and spirit. Taking place in the beautiful oasis of calm that is the Gardens at Torre Abbey and in amongst the romantic ruins, these classes will offer a low impact form of exercise that is accessible to all ages and levels of fitness.
Tai Chi is based on slow, gentle movements and rhythmic breathing that has proven to be an excellent tool for improving health and fitness and benefits core strength, posture, relaxation, circulation and balance. Important components include: exercise, breathing techniques, awareness of the body, focused attention/mindfulness, balance and function, visualisation and relaxation.
We request that you sign up to all of the 12 weeks (minimum of 8), however if you are unable to make a week please just let us know beforehand.
Torbay CAN (Connecting Actively to Nature)
The CAN programme aims to help people discover the combined benefits of a more active lifestyle, with the psychological benefits that being outdoors in nature brings.
Starting this summer at Torre Abbey we are running a series of free to attend short courses to specifically help the over 55’s with getting outdoors, trying something new and meeting new people.
Although aimed at over 55’s (where suitable) we encourage them to bring their younger family members along too.
All sessions are part of the Torbay Connecting to Nature Programme funded by Active Devon.
