Wednesdays from 31 July - 4 September 6pm to 8pm | 6 week course.
Free to attend, but places must be pre-booked.
Come and enjoy an informal and sociable dip, with local wild swimming author Matt Newbury.
Alternatively, have a stroll along the beach or find out a bit more about wild swimming* and why it is so popular. It’s then back to Torre Abbey for a warming drink and to create some art inspired by the swim, beach and coastline.
You don’t have to be an artist, as there will be help on hand from our Museum Learning Officer Kate. The various artistic responses to the swim might include writing and discussions, as well as painting, drawing or printmaking. Most importantly these evenings will be relaxed and fun and a chance to meet new people.
We request that you sign up to all 6 weeks however if you are unable to make a week please just let us know beforehand.
*swimming is at your own risk
Torbay CAN (Connecting Actively to Nature)
The CAN programme aims to help people discover the combined benefits of a more active lifestyle, with the psychological benefits that being outdoors in nature brings.
Starting this summer at Torre Abbey we are running a series of free to attend short courses to specifically help the over 55’s with getting outdoors, trying something new and meeting new people.
Although aimed at over 55’s (where suitable) we encourage them to bring their younger family members along too.
All sessions are part of the Torbay Connecting to Nature Programme funded by Active Devon.
