An original retrospective into Tom Adams' iconic Agatha Christie book covers

Cover artist Tom Adams created numerous iconic Agatha Christie book covers, mostly in the 1960s, '70s and '80s but also as recently as the 2010s.

Thanks to the generosity of Georgie Adams, Tom’s widow, and her family as well as David Morris, visitors will be able to see some of Tom Adams’ original artwork, objects featuring on his iconic covers, and some never-before-seen material showing how Tom’s artistic processes brought these covers to life.

The exhibition will enable local schoolchildren, students and Agatha Christie enthusiasts to not only learn about Tom’s work but also to engage with, and be inspired by, his artistic processes.

Many of the exhibits have never been available to the public before and likely will not be again. Therefore, this is a very special opportunity to view not only some of the original artwork of Tom Adams’ iconic covers but learn about the stories behind Tom’s creativity.

The Official opening date coincides with the Agatha Christie Festival first day. Thursday 18th September: International Agatha Christie Festival | Tom Adams and Agatha Christie: Partners in Crime

David Morris is the author and editor of the authoritative website CollectingChristie.com. He has been a popular presenter at the Agatha Christie Festival for the last three years. His article Agatha Christie’s Plays: From Playscripts to Playbills was published by Concord Theatricals in 2023. More recently, his discovery of and research into two Agatha Christie playscripts for the US market was recently published by The Shubert Archives in their publication The Passing Show.
