As Halloween creeps closer and the days grow shorter, an eerie atmosphere is set to descend on Torre Abbey once again as the popular Abbey After Dark returns for October half term.
Following another successful year, Torbay's most historic attraction is inviting families to experience a spine-tingling Halloween adventure alongside a programme of spooky craft activities throughout the holiday period.
From Tuesday 27 October to Saturday 31 October, brave visitors can step beyond the ancient garden gates and venture into the haunting world of The Abbey After Dark, where shadows stir, ghostly figures appear and surprises await around every corner.
Set within the atmospheric grounds of Torbay's oldest building, the after-dark trail combines history, mystery and Halloween fun, creating a memorable family experience for visitors of all ages.
As darkness falls, guests will follow a spooky trail brought to life with haunting illuminations, creepy characters, immersive storytelling and special effects designed to delight rather than terrify.
Visitors can expect:
- A spooky trail through Torre Abbey's historic gardens
- Ghosts, ghouls and Halloween surprises along the route
- Atmospheric lighting and special effects
- Halloween-themed games and seasonal treats
- Plenty of opportunities for memorable family photographs
Earlier entry slots from 4.30pm are particularly suitable for younger children and those who prefer a gentler experience before darkness fully descends, while later sessions offer an even more atmospheric adventure.
Fancy dress is highly encouraged, so visitors are invited to arrive in their most frightful Halloween costumes.
Halloween Craft Activities
Alongside the thrills of Abbey After Dark, families can enjoy a range of Halloween-themed craft activities taking place throughout the half-term holiday.
Children can create their own spooky keepsakes and take part in a variety of hands-on workshops, including:
- Frankenstein Masks - Tuesday 27 October
- Dead Man's Finger Craft - Thursday 29 October
- Spider Web Weaving - Saturday 31 October
- Flapping Bat Craft - Sunday 1 November
With a mixture of activities included with admission and standalone workshops available to book for a small fee, there are plenty of opportunities for young visitors to get creative this half term.
Perfect for little monsters, budding crafters and families looking for a frightfully good day out, the workshops offer a fun way to celebrate Halloween and make special memories during the school holidays.
